Postby Carpathia on Tue Apr 07, 2009 11:04 am

It's A Boy

Ashley and fiancé Chuck Adams had a 7lb 12oz baby boy on March 30th. All are doing well. In March of 2008 Ashley lost an ovary to a cist and was in potential danger of not being able to have any kids at all. Children were something Ashley wanted very much. While it's not confirmed there was some talk around that Ashley tried to become pregnant as soon as possible after the March surgery and the possible chance of not being able to have children. We aren't in the habit here on the site of speculating such things but it does make some sense. Whatever the reasons Ashley now has a least on child fulfilling one of her dreams.

Ashley's next goal will be getting back out on the courts. She has said she will return and plans were to be back on the tournament courts sometime in June of this year with plans on playing the US Open. Ashley is following in the footsteps of her friend Lindsay Lee-Waters who has accomplished the feat twice. Lindsay Davenport also return the courts after giving birth to a child and now Kim Clisters will be making her return to the courts after getting married and starting her family. One wonders if the WTA will soon need a baby sitting service on tour.

23 year old Ashley Harkleroad and 38 year old Chuck Adams had the birth of their baby boy named Charlie on Monday March 30, 2009, Chuck Adams said the birth of their baby boy was 5 days ago on Saturday April 4, 2009 in an interview on Radio Tennis.com of a live world-wide web cast of the maxIT pro/am Tennis Event from the historic La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club

Ashley's priorities will change now with the birth of baby boy Charlie, lets see if it makes it back again on the tour, with the baby i believe this time around will be very difficult. Chuck Adams coach/fiance of Ashley Harkleroad said on Radio Tennis.com interview that sometime in June she will be back playing, She's a good athlete, hope she regains the tennis form she had and get back that magic of the months of January , February, and March of 2008
where she started the year off as usual in Auckland, Ashley reached the second round, defeating 8th seed Émilie Loit before losing to home-crowd wild card Marina Erakovic. Jetting to Hobart, Harkleroad had a banner tournament. Staying in Australia, Harkleroad played in Hobart after winning three matches to qualify. She defeated three top-100 players before bowing out in the Semi-Finals to top seed Vera Zvonareva. In the Australian Open, Ashley lost to 30th seed Virginie Razzano.

Harkleroad debuted with the Fed Cup team for the United States just two weeks later. Facing Germany, Harkleroad, Lindsay Davenport, Laura Granville, and Lisa Raymond made up the United States team. Davenport was upset in a tie, giving the Germans a 1–0 lead. Harkleroad crushed Tatjana Malek and Sabine Lisicki, both in straight sets to help the U.S. win 4–1 and becoming the tie's hero.

She then reached the final of the $75,000 ITF event in Midland where she was defeated by compatriot Laura Granville. She then reached the quarterfinals of the Pacific Life Open Indian Wells California tournament where she upset Lucie Šafářová and eighth seed Dinara Safina. She then lost to Agnieszka Radwańska in the fourth round in three sets 6–2 4–6 6–4.and reached the round of 16th at the Sony Ericsson Open , Key Biscayne, Miami , Florida, where she reached the third round after taking out the 23rd seed Virginie Razzano impressively 6–4 6–4, but lost to Elena Vesnina 4–6 7–5 4–6. The streak of wins make her rise to the ranking of 65 in the world. Chuck said Ashley and the baby were doing well, that she wanted to come to watch the maxIT pro/am Tennis Event from the historic La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, San Diego, California, but it was better for her she stayed at home in Malibu, California.

I read an article that said she didn't do well on the tour after the early 3 months success she had on the start of the year 2008 due to because she returned to the WTA Tour to soon after she had her removal surgery of her right ovary due to an ovary cyst, when she was advised to take the rest of the year off or at least six months off, and she didn't do it, instead she rushed back to the tour and found out she wasn't in shape condition, she had trouble breathing after point rallies, the result she lost to opponents in the first round that she should have beat them that were ranked way below her ranking, and was regretting she returned to fast to the tour, didn't know what to do, to continue or to stop, but with the US OPEN coming up decided to continue and that's when she found out she was pregnant, then she knew she had to stop. I think when she returns to the pro tennis tour it won't be in June, make it more in July, probably at the World Team Tennis competition.

Other things said that Chuck Adams told Ken Thomas of Radio Tennis.com at The maxIT Tennis Event La Jolla, CA USA, is how he met Ashley, it happened when he was the coach of the World Team Tennis New York Sportime, then coached her during World Team Tennis with sportime and after for a little while and one thing lead to another and now they have a baby. 8)

So his first name will be "Charlie"? Strange indeed. All famous people name their children very odd nowadays. Why not "Choker" after his Mum?

Tennis star and new mom, Ashley Harkleroad had her first child, a beautiful

the end of Agust. Charles Hooper Adams the 4th was born on March 25th at
4:49 PDT, he was 21.5 inches, weighing 7.2 lbs.

"Baby and mother are healthy and happy spending some time in their home
in Malibu Beach, California" stated her fiance', Charles Adams.

After having being induced into labor, Ashley had a very effortless deliver;
now she will start working harder to get her athletic, sexy body in shape in
the next couple of months.

As part of a strict workout program, Ashley will follow a fitness routine that
will take her "from having a baby to serving aces in 91 days" says... Ashley's
fitness trainer. Part of this plan includes lots of vegetables and fruits,
workouts with weights that target biceps and triceps, cardio, core exercises,
and getting on the court at least five times a week for 1 1/2 hour a day.
