This is kind of shocking

The ATP apparently told IMG that if it testified in the Hamburg trial, it would not be good for their (IMG's) business. de Villiers and the ATP deny this.

This trial is getting lot uglier than I thought. IMG owns lot of tourneys and represents most top players. so ATP should handle this more carefully, else IMG may start its own tour :)

This trial is going to get so ugly. It's all spilling over now - there was always that thin veneer of respectability both sides tried to maintain, but now all the gloves are off.

Actually, IMG tried to take over the WTA Tour in the mid-1990's when the women were having trouble finding sponsors and a CEO, the coup failed. It wouldn't surprise me if IMG wanted to take over the ATP. IMG is already a major sponsor of both the Australian Open and Wimbledon and several other tournies.

Does de Villiers even have any power anymore? Isn't he basically a lame duck waiting to be fired?
