After reading these boards for about a year now, I finally got around to posting a couple of times - then found this welcome thread and wanted to say Hey.

I read this board every day because I luuuuuuv Tennis and I appreciate it. I wish I could get my body to move and groove with the rhythm of the anticipation of the ball and swing that connects...but alas, I'm about 20 yrs past tense.

So...for fun I take rec tennis lessons with the City. "Tennis Welcome Centers" mean ALOT to me. It means that even though I can scream at the TV set...."she's driving you back from the baseline fool....don't you SEE it???" "Work Him side to side...you're sucking into the trap"….. I personally don't have one bit of physical talent, unless you count passion for the sport. Those $40 lessons from a Welcome Center make me feel awfully good. And I expect there’s a lot of people like me that can’t play well (or at all) and still adore the sport and appreciate what it takes.

I can get all wrapped up in the fact that Hingis came back without strength, just hitting-the-lines isn’t enough for Sharapova….and my biggie? Lindsay. She makes me insane. IMO one of the Great’s of all time but she doesn’t want to accept it, or have the drive to achieve all that she could have Sigh. Still I love her for her class and grace that is unmatched in the sport.

My first live match was in LA, 2005 where I got to see Agassi win over some tall guy named Muller. Seeing it live was right up there with great sex. Since then I did one night in Carson and hope than next year to watch anything that is within a 100 miles of me….uh, basically LA and Carson.

One question? (and it’s a dumb one). I can’t get that freakin quote feature to work…..do you hit it, then write your post or ??? The avatar is another challenge…where DO you get pics of Nadal picking his butt? I’m not a big message board person, but I have some pretty huge opinions about pro Tennis.

Sorry for the book.

I'm not good with the technical stuff, but here goes. If you want to quote someone's whole message, then hit the quote button when you're in it. It will take you to a reply box. You can delete the parts you're not referring to, just be careful not to delete the quote symbols at the beginning and end. You can just type those symbols in your message if you're cutting and pasting from a source aside from a message on the board. For example, copy what you want to quote from another source, go to a new message here on the board, type in the begin quote symbol, paste your piece, then type the end quote symbol.

I have no idea how to insert an avatar.

And I must tell you that you and I are of one mind when it comes to Davenport. Beautiful ball striker, no heart.

To insert an avatar, right click on the image you want (from any website) and go to properties, highlight and copy the URL address. Log in here, go to Profile, then at the bottom of the page there's the avatar control panel. Paste the address in the second or third box. Then update.

Don't worry, I found the avatar a challenge when I first signed up too.

Thanks for the input. I'll work on the avatar thing....right after I figure out who to sell/buy for my Fantasy Tennis team now that USO is almost over.

Jeez - I've spent more time pouring over WTA tennis stats than I did on my taxes this year.

Newbie here!

Postby topspin.me on Tue Feb 20, 2007 11:22 am

Hi everyone! I'm glad to be finally part of this forum.

I'm from the Philippines. I occasionally play tennis, but I'm not really good at it. Tennis is actually more of a spectator sport for me. And being the geek that I am, I try to jazz up my computer with anything and everything tennis. In my attempt to be creative, I posts my tennis wallpapers/screensavers at http://topspinme.blogspot.com/. Hope you guys might want to check it out too. :D

By the way, I'm linking this site to http://topspinme.blogspot.com/. Hope it's alright to the administrator :) . And hope that my site can somehow be linked from this site as well.

Really looking forward to interesting discussions here! :D

Hi! I am a bit confused, because based on the data provided by ATPtennis.com - I only count a 44-match winning streak of Guillermo Vilas in 1977 (losing to Ilie Nastase in Aix en Provence in Sept. 1977)
Isn't his record at 46 matches?

Plus, I took the time to check Lendl and McEnroe's winning streaks, and those are ok - however, I count 8 tournaments in a row for McEnroe, when the statistics provided by the media state Lendl and Borg as being the co-holders of the record of 8 tournaments won in a row.
McEnroe should be mentioned as a co-holder of the record as well.

Lastly, between 1979-80, Bjorn Borg is supposed to have had a 41-match winning streak, but I only count 32 (losing to Guillermo Vilas in the Nations Cup, Germany in May of 1980) Now, even if you
didn't count that tournament, since it's a part of World Team Tennis, his streak would then have to be 48 (losing to Lendl
in Montreal, August 1980) How did they come up with 41 matches?!?

Bjorn Borg should either be 1) the over-all leader at 48 (if you don't count Nations Cup) or 2) at a much lower rank than the rest of the legends, with a mere 32-match winning streak.

Can anyone help me out here?
