This coverage is the worst ever. I only saw 20 minutes today because of work, but the first 10 minutes of it was ruined by PMac interviewing a tabloid reporter with Bud Collins yackety-yack. I'd heard about the Safin/Djokovic match and they didn't even mention it.

I agree w/ funches. Although they're spending way too much chatting, once they actually show tennis, they're selecting the matches wisely ... much better than in previous years. In past years, I would have seen Roddick's and Serena's first-round wins three times each already.

Has espn heard of picture-in-picture display? the commentators can do their talking in small corner window that lies on top of actual match play. That way, we get to see the tennis and these morons get the satisfaction of being on TV.

And when Sue Mott is speaking, they can put a different match on each one of her teeth.

This is two months too late, but that was a good line.

I agree with funches... They spend so many time yakking and yakking. The previous is much better than right now. :?

I couldn't even see the scores. What were they thinking???? Put the game scores in the upper right or left corner like every other network. It was very confusing.

I feel sorry for Oudin because the ESPN hype machine is going to turn non-jingoistic tennis watchers against her.

They just showed her playing a game of mixed doubles on a non-televised court, with the camera only on her and not following the ball. She's got the game to back up her hype, but that type of force-feeding is irritating. Meanwhile, Ginepri was in a fifth set and there was a men's match in a fifth-set tiebreaker.

oh so many memories in this thread

tennis channel is so much better. my only real complaint is they hired gimelslob and during big events espn likes to hog all the "big matches".

Mimi,

You never even came back to accept your 2008 U.S. Open victory. It was like you dropped off the face of the earth.

Welcome back, maybe just before the end. We have not been able to post new threads for a couple of months.
